Language trip to Bournemouth (England) 12.3 – 19.3 2016

The trip began on a cold and cloudy Saturday afternoon. After all schoolboys and schoolgirls had arrived at the bus stop and said goodbye to their parents, the bus started for a long journey to England. Now we had enough time to talk to each other and to become acquainted with the others. After a long and sleepless night on the road and on the sea we finally arrived in Bournemouth at 9.15. a.m.

Our host mothers already waited for us and we were warmly welcomed. Groups of four always stayed in one host family. So I shared the company of a very polite host mother with three other friends. The other family members were her husband, a son, a daughter and two little dogs. She showed us the whole of Bournemouth by car and when we arrived at her house, she showed us our rooms and made us very tasty sandwiches.

After lunch we decided to walk to the harbour to have a look at the nice boats and the wonderful port area. We ate fish and chips and enjoyed the rest of the day.

The following evenings we were spoilt with a tasty dinner and every morning we received a nice lunch packet for the day. Each day the bus picked us up near our home and then we had lessons for a few hours at Cavendish School. In the afternoon we went on interesting excursions like visiting Stonehenge, the famous Salisbury Cathedral, the coast near Durdle Door where a scene of Pirates of the Caribbean was produced or we visited typically English places, like Portland or Weymouth of which some had wonderful beaches.

In the evening we could take part in activities, like bowling, cinema, Laser quest or karaoke, which were very cool and funny.

At other times we had a lot of free time where we could go shopping or walk through the cities.

On the last day our host mother brought us to the meeting point. We all said goodbye and then we left Bournemouth and travelled to London. In London we went on a guided tour which lead us to the most famous attractions of London such as Buckingham Palace, Trafalgar Square, the Houses of Parliament, the London Eye, Tower Bridge, etc. After a long walk we had free time, so we could discover London on our own.

After a long day the bus departed at 10 p.m and we were sad that we had to drive back home. In the middle of the night we had to get up because we had to leave the bus on the ferry. So after the ferry crossing everyone was very tired and fell asleep. The next morning everyone told each other stories and experiences of their journey.

It was a wonderful, varied, interesting and very funny language trip and if I had the occasion, I would do it again.
